During the Nigeria-Biafra war, the men were on the war front defending their territories, and the women had to find ways to obtain food, medicine and essentials for their children and elderly relatives.
These women often undertook very dangerous journeys, going beyond enemy lines to trade and bring back much needed supplies. This phenomenon was called Afia Attack. Not all the women made it back home.
Some of the women that survived Afia attack and the war have told their story to Ujuaku Nwakalor Akukwe & Chris Odili in a documentary “AFIA ATTACK: The Untold Survival Stories of Women in the Nigeria-Biafra War”.
The Afia-Attack Documentary film will Premiere at the Annual International Igbo Conference on April 21 & 22 2017 at The Brunei Gallery, SOAS, University of London. After the film screening you will get a chance to ask the producer Ujuaku Akukwe questions about these very brave women. Get your tickets now at www.IgboConference.com/tickets
